6.11 - 6.18.22
Yet another rice planting under the belt, this time with Yuki-san's family and friends along with the GOATS Mames (Manki & James). The week was a busy one, so I will leave it all to the photos this time around.
But also small student stories to share (I just couldn't NOT write these down)
- one of my students was really looking forward to Thursday's 6th period pool time, BUT that morning he realized he forgot to write down this crucial piece of information in his schedule book the day before. It was crucial info because this led to also forgetting his pool gear!! Thus, his solution: to try and "time lapse" back to the day before so he could write the crucial reminder down...throughout my whole class he just repeatedly recited and wrote on paper "June 22, 2022." He even started writing the date on his arm when his homeroom teacher was "buddy, not that please." He didn't end up returning to the past, but his mom did drop off all necessary gear and he had a ball during swim class.
- another one of my students came up to me on Thursday and said she wanted to show me "sunflower!" At first I was a little confused since I hadn't noticed any sunflowers at the school, but she explained in Japanese that she planted sunflower seeds in the school's flower bed after hearing my favorite flowers are sunflowers. This meant so much to me because during a prior conversation, she was telling me how she wanted to be a florist which led me to explaining the word "sunflower" to her because those truly are my favorite. And not only did she remember and recite the word to me, BUT she also went out of her way to plant some? I was about to tear up right then and there.
